With an enthusiastic approach, both the librarian and the Science Communicator tried to meet our curiosity with slightly different communication strategies. They reached the stakeholders that we were being very conversant with their subject. However, the librarian might have missed the importance of talking slower in order to communicate to a multi-nationality audience. The common ground to both is the use of visual material. First, the book display and its appealing illustrations, made more explicit the hereby theories. Then the same happened with the power point presentation where the correspondence seeing/understanding was essential and very important to relate to what was said.
Lastly, the interaction in communication with us was lively. It is relevant to note that such an interaction was made possible because we were split into two little groups and it enabled the physical closeness with our speakers.
We have been the witnesses of the science from the past, aware that the collection of manuscripts and books have spread the knowledge beyond frontiers and time. We became even more aware that there is still a lot we ignore, but if there were translators in the past to help convey the discoveries, our modern scientists could become the translators of their own scientific culture, one that would not be distorted by the media.
